Gardner Street School’s Art Integration Magnet Center uses the creative process as teaching practice — integrating arts and artistic practices into the teaching and learning of English Language Arts, English Language Development, Math, Science, and Social Studies. We teach with, through, and about the arts to promote higher-order thinking, support academic growth, foster social-emotional well-being, and provide students options to construct and demonstrate knowledge in multiple ways.

We use the arts as a way for students to connect to their own identity and learn about the experiences of those within our community and beyond — fostering a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive school community. In our safe and caring learning community, Gardner’s multiple pathways to developing 21st century skills — like creativity, collaboration, problem-solving, and persistence — prepare ALL students to engage and succeed in our ever-evolving world.
