Community Schools is a national effort spearheaded by the NEA to transform our public schools to a family centered approach that addresses the unique needs of individual communities.  The LAUSD in partnership with the UTLA has committed to investing in this model.

Community Schools focus on student achievement through 4 pillars:

These 4 pillars provide the guidelines for every unique school community.  The model is a genuine team effort!  A Community School Coordinator (CSC) is a lynchpin whose job is to reach out, organize, direct and connect community members through a needs and assets assessment that is analyzed and informs decisions.
