Digital Citizenship Spirit Week

This school year Gardner Street School has been selected to participate in the Instructional Technology Initiative (ITI) which is the practice of leveraging resources to create a positive digital footprint.  The focus will be on the importance of being a good Digital Citizen.  Our students have been learning about cultivating a technology habits of mind which include the following:

  • Being inclusive - being respectful in recognizing multiple viewpoints and engaging with others online

  • Being informed - evaluating the accuracy, perspective, and validity of digital media and social posts

  • Being engaged - use technology for civic engagement to solve problems and be a force for good in physical and virtual communities

  • Being balanced - how to prioritize time and activities offline

  • Being alert - being aware of online actions and create safe spaces for others online

We will be holding a Digital Citizenship week beginning October 19, 2020 to celebrate this experience. We will have an assembly on this day to kick off this event where students will demonstrate what they learned so far and participate in fun spirit wear activities each day.  We encourage you to take photos of students in their spirit wear to upload and share (add to the padlet according to grade level).
