At Gardner Street, all students receive a musical education that emphasizes traditional skills (including understanding rhythms and reading notes) and the ability to make music in equal measure.

This approach helps children develop social skills associated with a well-rounded education — self-discipline, concentration, perseverance — and allows them to experience the joy that comes from listening to music and learning how to express themselves through music.

In weekly music classes, kindergarteners through 2nd graders engage in vocal work, percussion and Orff instruments while 3rd through 5th graders add recorders and later ukuleles to their lessons.

Students perform in shows throughout the year, including school-wide Winter and Spring Music Concerts.

Ukulele Flash Fundraiser!

For the next two weeks, help us raise $2000 (we have a grant to match it!) to get ukuleles in the hands of all of our fourth and fifth graders while they are at home this year! They will remain property of Gardner and be passed down to other fourth and fifth graders for years to come, so it’s an investment for the whole school! We know this year, more than ever before, kids need access to artistic expression and creativity, and we want to give them access to it. Music keeps our heads up. Let’s help keep theirs up too.

Any amount helps! Thank you so much for your contribution and support of Gardner Street’s amazing kids.
